Portuguese airline to lead CS2 project
It has been announced that Portuguese airline TAP will lead a project under the Clean Sky 2 (CS2) Joint Undertaking, which is backed by Horizon 2020.
The €6m, four-year venture will focus mainly on technological advancements regarding maintenance issues. The first objective will be developing new methods to assess the condition of key aircraft components and systems, helping to assist the work of maintenance engineers. The project will also concentrate on implementing the large scale use of mobile technologies in maintenance procedures. The use of innovative applications will help to bring together the work of different airlines, maintenance organisations and manufacturers.
The project will also target the creation of the next generation cockpit, making flight operations more efficient and developing technology regarding avionics.
The CS2 project consortium includes 12 participants, including private sector companies, universities and research institutes. The project includes three participants based in Portugal, namely TAP, TEKEVER and ISQ.
